INTRODUCTION TO THE CLUB
The Royal College Science Association has been established
on 1st of July 1909.And it is celebrating its 107th anniversary in 2016.This is one of the oldest
clubs in the Royal College.
From 1990 to 1999 the society had published an annual
magazine called “Diwasa”.From 2000, the annual magazine’s name changed as “SCI-CLONE”, and it was a remarkable
achievement which scored by RCSA in the new millennium.
“SCI-ZONE”, the only school science
museum, was established in Sri Lanka by RCSA. As the most phenomenal event
which implemented by RCSA, “SCI-EVE”
was a success in 1960 for the first time, and it was consecutive up to 2011.
We
are also happy to mention RCSA was the first school science society which
concerned about the outstation schools and the society acted a main role for
the development of knowledge in science.

Sci-ETCa
(Science Experiments Testing Camp) Organized by the Royal College Science
Association is a project which is carried out as an activity camp for Grade 12
students. Extraordinary Science Experiments which are not included in the
school curriculum but is fun to watch and do are demonstrated and carried out
during this camp experiments, which has a physical and chemical base are
demonstrated in this project. This demonstration is carried out with motive of
making students interested in the field of Science and to make aware that
Science can also be enjoyable. The experiments that are to be demonstrated in this
project are clearly explained on Page No 07-08.
Also to
demonstration and explain these experiments we would engage a team of 10 members
of our Association. They will be named as “Sci-ETCa Professors” on the day of
the event.
We hope to
initiate this project with the participation of about 40 schools in Sri Lanka and
which would include about 06 students per school. The participation schools are
list down on page no 06.
For this
project we obtain the participation of 08 students from Grade 12 of our school
who has shown an outstanding academic performance at the Grade 12 second term
examination and we will provide them with a rare opportunity to carry out the
previously mentioned experiments along with the students of other participating
schools. For the above mentioned act two top performers of Mathematics,
Biology, Chemistry and Physics at the second term examination are selected.
Finally, the
students of various schools who took part in the event will receive a
certificate in order to remember their participation in this extraordinary
experiments camp that takes place for the very first time.
